emails bouncing back from gmail

I am experiencing bounce back from emails sent to gmail. A google search brought up a thread in this community.  So I have joined the conversation looking for an answer.

I can send email to various other recipients, but trying to send something to my wife's gmail account gets this bounce back:

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

      'xxxxxx@gmail.com' on 07/03/2025 11:02

            550 5.7.1  Reject for policy reason

 

Can anyone provide an update or some advice?

Problem solved after following your advice to remove my TalkTalk account from outlook and then reinstate it.  You are a star. Thanks.

Yeah it does, I think it's worth removing the account from Outlook, restarting outlook adding the account then restarting Outlook again.

Yes, no problem sending a new email to my wife's gmail account from webmail.  Sounds like it is some issue with Outlook.  Would you agree?

Hi Ady, 

Thanks for the help.  I have checked my settings which are:

Incoming Mail (IMAP): imap.talktalk.net
Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.talktalk.net
Encrypted connection incoming - SSL/TLS (SPA not selected)
Encrypted connection outgoing - STARTTLS (Ticked 'requires authorisation' same as incoming)
Server port numbers (PC): Outgoing (SMTP) - 587. Incoming - 993

 

I have just tried again to send a couple of messages to my wife's gmail account.  If I start with a blank, new message in Outlook on my PC and type in her address (which I double check) the email bounces back  If, however, I reply to a message from her, then it goes through no problem.

 

The problem doesn't occur when sending emails from my iPad.

I can add some extra information on this issue.

The bounce back only occurs when sending emails from my Outlook 2021 program an my PC.  Sending emails from TalkTalk to gmail on my iPad using the Apple Mail program works fine.
