Hi

I'm having problems accessing my pipex email through Ipad. It worked fine till Thursday (23rd feb) and can't access it unless i use the Talktalk mail site which is awful to use, so many adverts!!

I have followed the guides but when i end the set up it asks for password for pipex mailbox (which i have entered) Ipad has latest IOS update.

I also can't access my pipex email through Gmail app since Thursday too! seems pipex is blocked

Any advice or should i ditch all Talktalk services altogether? thinking of changing my broadband anyway.

Thank you

Hi Billy25, both your mailboxes are in full working order. You shouldn't be having issues with this now.

Hi

After following instructions and waiting since last week im still not getting emails from Pipex. I have checked settings and had them verified them on here. After deleting and adding account its still the same.screen after entering correct settingsscreen after entering correct settingsafter pressing ok from previous screenafter pressing ok from previous screen

I have also included the pipex emails affected in my notes within my profile and was told these email addresses would be reinstated last week. i am running up to date software on an ipad.

Hi Billy25, I've added your mailbox to those to be restored to normal function. Please allow 48 hours for the change to complete.

Absolutely correct.

  • Your email setup is ready
  • I've requested full access is restored
  • Your Community profile is now ready for TalkTalk Support to pick up
  • Then it's just a case of waiting a couple of more days using webmail and you'll be back in action

PS, GMail POP3 mail collection is set up ok. It will authenticate the POP3 connection when TalkTalk restore IMAP/POP3 access to the mailbox.

It is a template reply...but here's the thing... I tailored it especially for you having noted your comments.

And, you say you've followed the instructions already, but you haven't. You haven't updated your Community profile so TalkTalk Support don't know who you are or what email address to switch back on for device access.

But hey, the good news is you have got secure settings on the iPad and it's capable of secure mail to the TalkTalk requirements. Did you identify the iPad as the device that had insecure settings?

The secure mail settings are good so I've requested that full access is restored for the email address mailbox in your Community profile, Personal information, Private notes when you get around to adding that.

TalkTalk Support will respond here and access returned within a couple of days after that. Until then use TalkTalk Mail webmail (with or without an ad-blocker) via an up to date Internet browser to keep in touch with email contacts.

Hi

Thanks for that generic reply, but i have followed those instructions already. There seems to be a real problem with pipex emails. The talktalk webmail site is awful to use, i just want to access my emails as i have done through an Ipad. Talktalk say they made the changes for security reasons, so secure we can't access them.

If you saw the message from TalkTalk advising "Our records show that you are still accessing your email using unencrypted email settings, because of this you will no longer be able to receive or send emails via this email app or software" then the email address receiving that notification has been limited to webmail only access as a last resort action by TalkTalk to stop the use of insecure email.

TalkTalk Mail webmail is secure by design using an up to date Internet browser. Use an ad-blocker if you get distracted by the advertising.

Select here: Sign in to TalkTalk Mail

Enter your full TalkTalk Mail email address and password, select Sign in.

You will be able to get email access restored to email apps or software including mail collection services so long as you're ready to use up to date and secure email settings for all the ways you view emails. We can advise on device and software compatibility and provide customer setup guides. Just let us know each mail collection service, each device, its operating system and email software including version that are in current use.

We can help you identify the device or software that's using insecure settings and that's triggered the switch off of device access. Devices will not authenticate until TalkTalk restore access. Any device using port 110 or 143 as that's an insecure port?

For a definitive check of settings take screenshots of the incoming and outgoing server settings, image edit to obscure the first part of the email address and upload here using the Camera icon (desktop browser) or Picture icon (mobile browser) above this reply area.

When you confirm the secure settings are ready I can request TalkTalk Support to restore full access. TalkTalk Support will respond here and access will be restored usually within a couple of working days.

Prepare for TalkTalk Support - include in the Community Profile (not in these public posts):

Email account holder name

Scroll down to Private notes to add the email address(es)
and TalkTalk or MailPlus customer account number

Check and Save changes

Select here: Update your profile
