I have bought a new iPhone and I am trying to set it up but my wi-fi password is not recognised. The internet and email works perfectly but the new phone does not accept my password. I have been very careful when putting the password in.

Have you changed the initial internet (wifi) password of the router for a bespoke one?
If not are you perhaps trying to use the router password rather than the wifi one?
You could try a pin reset to the router which will restore the initial password again if you have changed it. The only downside to this is that other devices then won't connect and you will have to re-input the password to connect those devices.
