When I press the WPS button, should there be a light showing in it or near to it?
I'm not sure whether or not it is working.
I was unable to connect to an extender.

I have exactly the same problem, and the WPS is enabled as suggested above. I am trying to connect and UltraXtend device

There is no WPS light on this router. The first thing to do is to make sure that it is enabled.
WPS if left enabled, can be a security risk. It is always best to keep it disabled until you want to connect something new & enable it for that period only.
To check this on the HG633 once logged in, go to:-
Home Network > Wireless Access > Wireless Network Protected Setup
Then make sure that it is both enabled & set to WPS by push button.
Which make/model of extender are you trying to use?
