Hi all,
my two daughters have gen1 google nest speakers in their bedrooms.
the other night both stopped working “cannot connect to wifi”
I’ve done the following
1- hard reset both
2- turned 5ghz wifi off on eero hub so it’s forced to use 2.4ghz
3- I’ve changed the WiFi password and set back up
they just won’t connect to the eero hub via wifi
4- I’ve reset the eero hub and it has the latest firmware
5- google home is updated and all other devices are working fine, my wife has the google larger speaker with the screen and this is not affected
Any ideas?
again they were working fine! I I’ve read on forums it was a forced update and they have been bricked on purpose as they are so old?
cheers

Just read up on it, NO i haven’t done a ‘network restart’ all I’ve done is restart the eero a few times
later tonight when everyone is in bed I will do a network restart and then try and set a speaker back up and will let you know

Fair comment, but it is interesting how in the other post the user same problem as me has stated google support has stared all complaints hve come from ‘talktalk’ customers. If true of course, just playing devils advocate

Hi Keith,
can you clarify EXACTLY what you mean by ‘network reset’? What effect will this have on everything connected?
I’ve restarted the eero many times

I agree with @ferguson. However, I will ask Devices if they have seen any similar issues. Before I do this (it will be tomorrow now) have you tried a network reset on the Eero?

If the last eero update was on 5 September then that wouldn't explain why your speakers only failed to connect last weekend.
on 23-09-2025 03:52 PM
But surely it’s the eero as I’ve factory reset my google speakers and they won’t connect to wifi🤷🏿♀️ (they can’t even update to the latest firmware)

Hi please could you contact them, I’ve attached screenshots of my eero router
on 23-09-2025 03:37 PM
Thanks, what version of eeroOS are they running now & when was it applied? I can test myself, but that would be with an Amazon Echo Show, so not quite the same. Alternatively, I can pass this to TalkTalk's Devices team to speak to eero, or you can contact eero yourself.

Apologies all I did not realise the other user hd a similar post, ✉️ did search prior to posting my original
on 23-09-2025 03:33 PM
Correct, i hve two other speakers and 4 other devices not affected
on 23-09-2025 03:32 PM
Hi
sorry I shall clarify
I have 2 x google nest mini speakers
they both went down early hours of Sunday everything t was working fine up to this point
I I’ve many other devices connected to my google home account which are NOT affected
since they have gone down I’ve hard reset them but they cannot update FireWire as they cannot connect to the eero hub
as soon as I type my eero username and password in on the google setup it just doesn’t connect as if the credential’s are wrong, they are correct
I’m my limited experience Logic would dictate the eero hub has updated automatically possibly and in this update there is something the speakers do not like.
nothing else has changed they simply both stopped playing white noise during the night and I cannot re connect them to the eero hub as it is not taking the credentials
thanks for your continued support

I am unclear. Has this only happened after the Google Mini update was done?
on 23-09-2025 02:33 PM
Sorry the only devices affected are the two nest mini speakers
on 23-09-2025 02:32 PM
Hi
I’ve updated google home on my phone and eero is up to date
cheers

Hi @fr8ys
This is confusing, then. @Monkeyboy1975, please can you confirm if this update was a Google one, or an eero one? I won't raise this with Devices until I know.
on 23-09-2025 11:06 AM
Hi @fr8ys,
Sorry, this is strange, I thought that this was all the same thread, I did not realise it was two separate customers with the same problem involving their eeros.
This means there are a few ways to play this:-
I will raise this with Devices anyway, but I would like to know first from the customer @Monkeyboy1975, if this only affects Minis or any other devices.
Just for this customer's benefit, this is a link to the other thread:-

@KeithFrench thanks, I read that as a Google update, not an Eero one.
on 23-09-2025 10:54 AM
Hi @fr8ys
Yes, thanks, I did see that, thanks very much anyway for pointing it out. However, eero never gives any details of what is really in an update.
I plan to first find out what these devices support & how they are supposed to connect to the eero and take it from there. Obviously, without any Google Minis to test with myself, I cannot see if there is a general problem connecting to eeros generally. Google's comments lay the blame at TalkTalk, rather than specifying if the issues that they have seen recently refer to eeros or Sagemcoms, both of which are in use with other ISPs anyway.
My only goal here, as ever, is to resolve the issue, rather than blaming any party, without investigating it first.

Coincidence or what? Note the mention of an update, so possibly a Google issue rather than TalkTalk.
