My 2.4ghz (only) printer registers successfully on my home wifi.
Other 2.4 ghz devices on my home wifi print successfully.
All 5ghz devices don't.
This looks to be a classic case of the firmware not routing between the two frequency bands (very much like all early dual band wifi routers) but Eero claims to do this seamlessly.
Any ideas please?
Updates applied. Everything else is working, all devices easily in good range.
Thank you.

They are not eero model numbers, the two that TalkTalk supplies, depending on your package, are the eero 6 & the eero Pro 6. If buying on the Internet there are quite a few other models, Which do you have & which have you ordered?

Yes thanks Michelle and Keith. Much appreciated. Excellent service! My replies are a bit disjointed but I locked myself out with the two factor authentication!
In summary, printer now working on 2.4, laptop same, so we'll access documents fron the laptop when printing is needed.
Also, I have ordered a second Eero6 unit since my fancy hifi streamer is wired only, but I cannot sensibly reach it with cabling. So I'll use this second Eero and a short patch lead to connect the hifi.
One last question! My main Eero is the N010001, (from Talktalk), the extra Eero will be a J010001, I've reseached as best I can and I believe this will be perfectly ok to support one music streaming device?
Many thanks, Andy

Guest network not enabled.
However, a new twist. I’ve Forgotten my network in the iPad, then set the Eero temporarily to 2.4ghz (using their fault finding option for issues relating to 2.4ghz only devices), then joined the network, checked it is indeed on the 2.4ghz side, then printed. Worked first time.

Just a thought @double, have you enabled Guest Networks on your eero? If so then both the printer and the devices to print to it must be on the main network (irrespective of WiFi band). If one is on the guest it will never be able to get to the main network.

Hi @KeithFrench, I will confess to having been a wee bit nervous about connecting my HP printer, along with other IoT devices on the 2.4GHz band when I first set my eero up. In fact I have not had any issues. I usually print directly from my MacBook. But I just tried a test print from my iPhone and it worked just fine. So I have no pointers to give I'm afraid as mine just works.

One thing here is that the eero uses a different IP addressing scheme to all other TalkTalk routers, this might affect Apple. Perhaps you might need to uninstall & reinstall the AirPrint. @ferguson is another of our Community Stars who might be able to help you with this, as he uses Apple devices.

Right, small change and big change. Small change - on the iphone when sellecting the printer it is greyed out slighlty now. I could have missed this before!
Big change - when I previously said words to the effect of I select the printer, infact there is a step inbetween where the iphone offers AirPrint. When selected I then choose the printer.
So, the iphone is in fact using AirPrint.
Looks like I'll have to Google this , other people MUST be printing successfully from Iphones on Eeros systems.

Right. I may have been lucky with my previous setup then! I dont understand the Apple stuff but it worked at the time. Thank you for your help though. I will try forgetting the network as you suggest and try again. Certainly the printer was added after the other devices. I will let you know the outcome.

Apple & Windows devices are totally different. For a start do you need a special app to print from on the Apple devices? What happens if you tell the Apple devices to forget the network and then try a fresh? I am afraid that I do not use Apple products, so it is difficult to be sure of their operation.

Hi Keith, thanks for quick response.
The printer is a decent Brother laser. It scans for local networks are lists them. I choose mine, then enter the password, and it replies Connected, then prints a brief summary. The device then appears on the Eeos devices.
The printer does offer WPS but I didn't use
The other devices, on the 5ghz side are two iphones, 13 and 14, and a recent ipad. All 'see' the printer but their respective print queues just have 'waiting'.
The only caveat is that they all knew the printer from my previous setup (recent house move) so maybe they think they are searching for that. However, that wouldn't explain why the laptop - on the 2.4ghz side - prints fine, it hasn't been confused by trhe change.

Yes, the eero does route fine between both WiFi bands as well as Ethernet. I can easily print to my printer (also 2.4GHz only) from my 5GHz-connected PC. Therefore the eero is not the issue.
What sort of 5GHz-connected devices are you talking about? Is the printer connected to the eero via WiFi network name & password or WPS? Alternatively, are you using a WiFi Direct setup on your printer where your devices print directly to a WiFi network of the printer?
As an aside, I know the eero does not strictly support WPS, but I have a workaround for that.
