Does the EERO 6 have to be used for Full fibre 150 or can another router be used

Does the EERO 6 have to be used for Full fibre 150 or can another router be used?

I'm asking because my old router could be set to turn off the 2.4 GHZ band completely, where the EERO 6 cannot, only temporarily. This is because the EMF radiation immitted by doing this is considerably lower (10 - 20x ) as measured by a radiation meter and this is a concern to me.

If I can use my old talk talk router or another router other than the EERO  6 with this option that would be great, if the EERO 6 must be used I would rather stick with what I have (Fibre 65)

Lots of people have done so successfully, no need to wonder, have a search. The main advantages with a TalkTalk supplied router is that it is preconfigured and designed to work out of the box and can be supported if you have any issues with it, or your service. A third-party router may require some settings to be tweaked. TalkTalk certainly do nothing to prevent their use. I am sure a member of the team will pick this up soon to give you the "official" position.

Any router could work, it just depends on whether talk talk allow it and haven't put something in to force it because they have a deal with amazon or something. It seems like it maybe the case because it says on the Full Fibre 900, EERO 6 and app is required.

Talk talk don't seem to be able to answer for definite, I'm surprised there are not other people who want to do this, so i wondered if anyone else has tried it on here.

@Mattey

I can't claim to be a "pro," but any router with a WAN port should work. Did you have a particular model in mind?

Ah sorry @Mattey I didn't get the full sense of your original post.

Best leave it to the pros to answer.

Thank for the suggestion, but I would think if I try it and it doesn't work I wont be able to cancel the upgrade and go back as it will have already been done in its entirety at that point.

I would think it might might work, it just depends on whether talk talk themselves enforce it with a MAC address or something. On the Full Fibre 900 package it say the EERO 6 is required, on the 150 it doesn't say that but I would imagine it actually is as the services would be identical behind the scenes other than speed.

Trouble these days is every tech company is fairly anti-consumer and therefore often uses technology to restrict/monitor/track/lock in etc to their eco systems
