Hi @Staciejeffrey

Thanks for that screenshot. However, that is from the eero app, which helps a bit, so I assume that you have not run a WiFi analyser app, is that correct? If not, let me know if you want my help to sort this out for you.

Hi @Staciejeffrey

I doubt it. Wi-Fi interference & signal strength can vary by the minute. Someone's router nearby could have moved on to an interfering channel. Alternatively, they could have moved their router closer to yours & that might cause the issue. Something in their house or yours could be degrading your signal strength. A reflective object could have changed in their property or yours, such as electronic equipment, large metal objects, glass, water tanks etc. This is all guesswork on my part, but I prefer evidence-based diagnostics to understand the cause & how to rectify it.

If you have checked this, as I assume that you have, did you use a Wi-Fi analyser? If so, if you would share the screenshots from all the views it offers with me via a PM (to protect your privacy), I can check them for you. If you do, please add them via the Insert Photos tool in the PM editor toolbar. When you do, it is best if they are sent from a Desktop PC if you have one & when doing this, please set the Size parameter of the Insert Photos tool to Large; otherwise, I will not be able to read them as the text will be out of focus when zoomed in.

Hi @Staciejeffrey

Thanks for the events, the eero does not appear to be rebooting, just a device is disconnecting & reconnecting to WiFi. This suggests either poor signal strength and or Wi-Fi interference.

Slow speed, intermittent dropouts, breaks in the signal or no signal on some or all devices or no internet access might be caused by Wi-Fi interference from other local networks, which can also lead to a permanent reduction in speed. No ISP can be responsible for your local environment; this is mainly a byproduct of the popularity of Wi-Fi.

Generally speaking, the 2.4GHz band suffers a lot more from interference than the much faster 5GHz band, but the 2.4GHz band can sometimes have a better range; however, this all depends on your local area.

In other words, I offer a free, impartial analysis of your Wi-Fi network and will try to help you optimise your Wi-Fi connection. The next stage involves sending out a guide to you to help you get me some important diagnostic results so that I can analyse them for you and recommend changes to your router configuration to solve them.

I only send this out to people who request it.

Whilst the eero is supposed to manage Wi-Fi interference, if this is very bad, particularly in the 2.4GHz band, then it cannot do anything about it, no router can. The same goes for any router at that point. Other things that may then need to be investigated are its location within your property and the WiFi bands that you use. It is possible that you may also need to purchase additional eero nodes as it is supposed to operate as part of a mesh system. I can help with any of this. However, I would suggest that you follow my help to find out what the root cause of the problem is, before throwing money at it.

OK @Staciejeffrey, if the eero reboots sometimes, let me help you diagnose this.

Please can you get me one or more screenshots from the Events section of the Activity tab in the eero app that cover such a reboot? Start this from about 10 minutes prior to the reboot up until the eero comes back online. The Events can be found by tapping on the clock icon at the top of the Activity tab. You will need to scroll down the page to find the area & this may take several screenshots to illustrate the problem to me.

Then please PM them to me (to preserve your privacy). If you can't set the Size parameter of the Insert Photos tool in the PM toolbar to Large, then can you please share them with me from something like Dropbox or Google Drive, etc?

The information below is provided by TalkTalk. For confirmation, please contact @Lorrainef, the manager of the TalkTalk support staff on this forum.

Hi @Staciejeffrey

The Wi-Fi Hub 3 is a very similar specification - Wi-Fi 6 with WPA3 security mode. You say you prefer the way bandwidth is managed, do you mean the eero's algorithm that controls the channel & bandwidth settings? If so, a similar system is in place with the Hub 3 - Wi-Fi Optimisation, which has improved greatly since it was first introduced (it now even allows use of some of the DFS channels).

The WiFi Hub 3 does allow manual configuration of the Wi-Fi parameters, unlike the eero and can work as a Wi-Fi 6 mesh in conjunction with the Sagemcom FAST266 Wi-Fi Booster. Generally, the Hub 3 gives better WiFi coverage than the eero in my experience. However, all properties are different, so this cannot be guaranteed.

I can help with all technical enquiries with both the eero & the Hub 3.

Hi @Staciejeffrey

Generally, I would say from personal experience that the WiFi Hub 3 is better than the eero. Considering specifications, it will depend very much on which eero do you have, the eero 6 or the eero Pro 6 and how many of them do you have?

No and No.

The Hub 3 is now the preferred choice.

There was a change in personnel earlier this year and all the -talktalk staff were replaced with the -tt equivalent

Do you have an issue that needs attention?

If so please let us know.

Hi @Staciejeffrey probably not and sadly no. I do hear Karl is making the very most of his early retirement.

I don't work here and all my opinions are my own.

The Wi-Fi Hub 3 is the standard router for all packages now.

Karl was part of the old team that is no longer working for TalkTalk. There manager now has a new team.
