Hello,

Can TalkTalk provide eero Pro 6E or Wifi7 router with Fibre900?

The current eero pro 6 is not capable of maintaining the fibre900 speed.

Waste of money, if customer is paying price of Fibre900 and getting speed to Fibre500.

Can someone technical from TalkTalk take a decision on this one?

Thanks!

Wired speed test on laptop connected with eero, huge disappointment.

Hi @Billx

Thanks for that, your feedback is 100% correct and hopefully, more proof that the customer's issue is a Windows/driver issue.

Hi @bitrate

Please see the post from @Lorrainef, who is the manager of the TalkTalk support staff on this forum.

I have always treated you with respect. The terms & conditions of this forum that you agreed to require you to be friendly at all times. Insulting people on here is not permitted.

I will give you one last chance. Please answer the two questions that I keep repeating in this thread, so that I might try & help you identify why you are using 802.11a & not 802.11ax as you should be able to. If you refuse to answer them, or you insult me again, I will lock this thread & leave you to the full fibre helpdesk.

Hello bitrate I can assure you that Keith has many, many years of experience in this area and most definitely knows what he's talking about. We would suggest following his guidance and one of the TalkTalk team will also support.

Thanks for sharing that, I am not sure what it brings to the table here though? Let's leave it to @KeithFrench and the support team.

Hi, all

I also use the 'Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz' Wi-Fi Adapter.
In the Device Manager, Device Properties, Advanced
the first property is, 802.11a/b/g Wireless Mode and is set to 'Dual Band 802.11a/b/g'
the second property is, 802.11n/ac/ax Wireless Mode and is set to '802.11ax'
Whilst, for the first property, one can choose 1 of 6 values
for the second property one can choose 1 of 3 values, or disable it
One can't disable the first property, one has to choose 1 of 6 values
One wouldn't disable the second property, as it is the one with the later standards, 802.11ax, and 802.11ac.
But one is also stuck, with 1 of the values of the first property.

When I run 'netsh wlan show interface' from the command prompt,
even though my selection of values is 'Dual Band 802.11a/b/g' and '802.11ax',
the driver, I suppose, chooses 802.11ac.
This must be, because I currently use a 802.11ac-based router.
The TX & RX Link rates are both 866.7Mbps.
This is ample speed for me.

Bill

@Mandisa-TT

No worries. I genuinely do not understand why the customer will not take on board the advice they have been given.

Please drop the attitude, I am trying to help you & you refuse to answer my questions.

Do not insult my intelligence. Kindly tell me then what was technically incorrect about my last post or any others. You do not seem to understand the difference between 802.11a & 802.11ac or ax.

It is your PC that is saying it is using 802.11a with speeds that are not possible with that WiFi Mode. Therefore, something is amiss with your PC and I am trying to help you identify this.

You are deviating from the whole WiFi concept.

You need to read about WiFi standards and how 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz work.

Stop sharing false info, please!

Hi @bitrate

No, 5GHz itself does not support 160MHz as such.

  • 802.11a, as you are using, does not support channel bandwidth at all.
  • Channel bandwidth was not introduced until 802.11n (Wi-Fi 4).
  • Support of 160MHz is sketchy across 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5), mainly in 802.11ac Wave 2.
  • 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) does support up to 160MHz.

With the above considered, both client & AP must each support 160MHz channel bandwidth, before this can be negotiated within the association process of a WiFi connection attempt.

Please stop your one-line responses and answer my basic question, because I have never seen netsh lie, so why is your WiFi connection only using the WiFi Mode (Radio Type) of the ancient 802.11a. I therefore need to know what version of Windows are you running & is your WiFi adapter drivers up to date?

I don't know how many times I am going to have to ask you this.
