I've received emails and text about being upgraded to full fibre soon but I have questions/concerns.
My house has two phones lines. The first is the 'home' phone line/number with its own socket and has a corded phone connected to it. The second is a different number/phone line, used for my mother's business. It also has its own phone socket in the wall next to the other one, and a corded phone connected to it.
As I understand it, when upgraded to full fibre, these phone sockets will either be removed or just obsolete and my corded house phone would connect to the router. My question/confusion is, what happens to the second phone line the house has? If the copper line is being removed then how is this second line supposed to be used? we only really use it to transfer the phone line to my mother's cell phone (so the corded phone connected to the socket isn't used outside of that) but how exactly can that line be used now if the wire is going away and can't be connected?
I also have concerns about my router, it is very old and I don't think it will be compatible with the thing that will be installed on the house?
It was supplied by TalkTalk and is a Huawei HG633. If this is incompatible will I be supplied with a new router as I do not wish to be without Internet.

Yes - you must specify digital voice, and the main point ordering it with the upgrade is to keep your landline phone number, @Farferello.
You wouldn't already have Sagemcom hub while the current one works fine, but it's worth mentioning that. It often doesn't come until the day the engineer arrives.

I don't have those routers so I hope an upgrade arrives beforehand.
This is a free upgrade to full fibre that was offered 'full fibre broadband with digital voice free of charge' from the text I was sent about it. I'm assuming the digital voice will let me keep the mainline phone number? It's not very clear from the text.

There's only capacity for one phone plugged in to one router, @Farferello.
One socket in the hub 2 or hub 3, Sagemcom routers.
Will be interested to see what staff suggest in these circumstances!
VOIP must be ordered with the broadband deal or the phone number gets lost altogether.

She does not use the internet with this other phone line, it's just a number she has for people to call her on. As she's on contract I don't believe she would want to cancel it to sign up for something else especially as the number she has is needed.
I just want to know what is supposed to happen with a second phone line if this update happens.

It might be worth your mother opening a service with Talktalk's business arm, @Farferello.
https://business.talktalk.co.uk/
Your current contract is for residential use only, except with written permission for business use from Talktalk [and the Ts&Cs don't reflect the fact that so many people now work from home].
You'll automatically be sent a new router with an upgrade to Full Fibre.
