Setting up a static IP address for a device

Hi, has anyone tried assigning a static IP address for a console, and then opened ports for this static IP?
Was recommended to do this after troubleshooting poor connection on a Playstation 5. Trying to see if anyone has improved connection by doing this, and if so, how they did it on TalkTalk. Thanks

You possibly do not mean a static IP address, that is set on the Playstation itself, not the router & needs to be outside of the DHCP server's IP address range. What I think you mean is a DHCP Reserved IP address. This is in effect the same result, in so much as the device should always be allocated the same IP address, but is under the control of the DHCP server within the router.
When you start talking about Port Forwarding this can be a complex issue and I can help a lot with this, but I need more information from you:-
- What make/model of router do you have?
- Which TCP or UDP ports do you wish to forward to your Playstation?
