i have shopped around and found talktalk is getting expensive - they are offering a new 18 month deal for £6.00 / month more than i am paying now and of course talktalk will increase that annually by massive increases as we are seeing now - i am not happy with the offer now i have had a chance to shop around - so went to help section which says best way to contact is to chat with them but offer no phone number or link as obviously talktalk have deliberately buried the contact details so unable to negotiate a better deal - plenty better deals available especially as i also pay £50 / year for email plus too - talktalk seem to think people have loads of cash to spare when they dont so how can this be resolved please

thanks

Thanks Gondola - good to know those old servers have been finally retired they must have been pretty creaking should help for more up time! Understand the Open Xchange licenses I dare say talktalk has a good enterprise deal/s in place probably 3 to 5 year deals or maybe evergreen contracts and guaranteed minimum renewals, in fact ref Open Xchange if I remember rightly this is why I had to update a few of my device outlook licenses a little while back which is fine with me as now more secure than before although the initial expense was not welcome obviously. I do wonder if this will be offered as PAYG in the future you know monthly contracts making it easier to shop around but some in the industry will be for it others against depending on their agendas, also surprised talktalk business did that I guess talktalk just wasnt making enough cash out of the business side then so strategic changes, still you have loads of experience and a wise head so I reckon you know these things already. Have a great evening.

Cheers dazza

Hi dazza5152

Yes, all good here. Good to see you've negotiated a fair deal for your broadband. It is a pretty competitive market and other ISP's are cutting costs by not offering email services to new customers. TalkTalk Business have also ceased offering email to new customers and withdrew all bar 3 legacy domains.

The legacy mail servers inherited by TalkTalk are long gone and, for TalkTalk Consumer, replaced by the new mail vendor Open Xchange on which platform TalkTalk offers a suite of apps including email. TalkTalk have to pay Open Xchange for each mailbox so this is an outgoing cost that is currently absorbed into the broadband package deal. There's no added charge to broadband customers for up to 5 mailboxes although I have seen that TalkTalk are holding off on applying charges for email in the future.

Afternoon Gondola, I hope you are well and doing good, tend to agree with your post except that when I was with tinyonline who tiscali took over the only reason I agreed a deal with tiscali was that tiscali agreed to keep the tinyonline email servers running so I and other customers could continue to receive our legacy email addresses otherwise i would have moved there and then, then talktalk took over tiscali and the reason i moved from tiscali to talktalk was talktalk also agreed to keep tiscali / tinyonline email servers live so customers like me would always keep receiving our legacy email address emails - talktalk kept this agreement for a period of time then decided they would not keep to the agreement anymore but charge for this service in the future - nice revenue earner for talktalk especially if still running old servers or better migrated to newer cheaper more efficient servers

i dont have a problem with this as business is business we all need to make money somehow - but i do mind when talktalk try to increase pricing unreasonably like an extra £6.00 / month just to renew my current service which has had large annual increases already and their are some really good deals out there from talktalks peers that are cheaper and offering big money back vouchers too - but with @Gliwmaeden2 help i contacted talktalk and have a new deal in place now - it was not the best but within my limits just - if mailplus goes up too much the whole talktalk package starts to look even more unattractive so keeping an eye on things - times are hard for may now so hopefully talktalk will keep competing with their competitors or be swallowed up again like tiscali tinyonline and others

cheers

dazza

@Gliwmaeden2 You need to look at the previous posts to understand.

Member dazza5152 is a TalkTalk broadband customer but pays for a MailPlus subscription because they have chosen to retain the use of more than 5 TalkTalk Mail addresses. Not officially supposed to happen. But some customers having acquired a lot of legacy addresses from being customers of ISP's bought by TalkTalk have been 'allowed' to retain their use.

But a MailPlus subscription is valid for up to 5 email accounts only. If dazza5152 leaves TalkTalk then some 'special' arrangement may need to be put in place for an additional MailPlus subscription should the current number of email accounts be required. So, that's £100 a year for 2 MailPlus subscriptions assuming that TalkTalk agree as a continued concession for the use of more than 5 TalkTalk Mail addresses including legacy addresses.

If dazza5152 remains with TalkTalk broadband then there's no change to the existing MailPlus subscription unless dazza5152 chooses to cancel that subscription. The member could call to cancel MailPlus to retain the use of webmail only access for two years before the subscription email accounts get deleted. That would save £50 a year and give up to 2 years to migrate contacts to a different email address.

To find phone numbers etc just pop "contact" or something similar into the forum search engine. You'll get the result as follows:
