I am a new customer, my line connected a week ago and I cannot have "call waiting" when I do the code, it says this service is not avaialble. I have already spent over five hours on the chat with several departments who after looking into this suddenly say sorry this feature of call waiting is not avaialble anymore. I find this hard to believe and think they are missing something, as when I ask how come there is nothing mentioned in your website that this feature has ended, they have nothing to answer. I need someone to use their brains and tell me what is blocking this feature from happening (the add on screen online, does not give me the option to add this).

It's simply not possible, @zwypl.

Hi there @zwypl. I am very sorry to hear this. As you have mentioned that you are a new customer, I can confirm that call waiting is not available to new customers.

Can anyone come up with a technical way that "call waiting" can be added to my line. It does not make sense why this is not available to new customers, who can help me?

Could you contact the help team to notify them that the existing help article does not make this clear?

@Lorrainef for info.

Hi there @zwypl unfortunately we do not offer the call waiting boost for new packages anymore, the only customers that still have call waiting are those that signed up whilst it was still offered however if they also renew or upgrade their contract, they also loose the feature.

Maybe, but they could at least update it to add that it is no longer available?
Could we have a response from the support team on this point, please?

Some do, but it's not universally available, @zwypl, and probably not high on the list of priorities for some customers - most will be choosing on reputed customer service, reliability of line, price etc.
Not a deal maker or breaker for some - something like Last Caller Barring would matter to me more.
My mum, with Virgin, can't block the last number that called but can get Call Waiting. You would really have to do your own research, provider by provider.
AI suggests it's not a usual "given":

Thats not fair, I would not have joined had I known this. Do you know if other landline providers have this issue?

Good spot @Gliwmaeden2. It would help if it was removed from the help pages.

@zwypl and @fr8ys, it cannot be added any more:
Under the pricing page, here:
http://community.talktalk.co.uk/pricing ..... it shows that the feature is no longer available to add:
If you previously had them, they will continue to work [rather like what happens with the old version of Voicemail]. But it cannot be added as a new feature.

Not sure, my line was connected last week (no line in this property for a few years) there is a new main socket that has an adapter plugged in, from the adapter two wires go: one wire goes into the internet router and the other wire to a cordless phone (old).

Hi,
Are you connected via traditional copper line , or do you have full fibre and using VOIP plugged into the router?
I ask as there seems to be an issue sometimes using VOIP and it has suddenly started working after a while, or sometimes seems to have needed staff intervention. This is based on a search of the forum.
You are in the staff's queue for a response.
For a quicker reply can you please ensure you have your personal information up to date in your profile including your TalkTalk landline phone number so your account can be traced. Link here - https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/user/myprofilepage/tab/personal-profile:personal-info
If you are unsure of your phone number, you can find this in My Account or dial 17070 from your landline phone and this will confirm the number for you.
You can also add your account number in the private notes field, which only you and the support staff can view.
Please post back when done.
Thank you
