Incoming calls ring briefly then don't connect

Since about 4:30pm today, whenever someone rings me it sounds to them like the phone rings once, then it appears to be answered (there's some crackling), then either the call goes dead immediately or it appears to continue for some time (there's further crackling, but no talking).

However, I am able to make calls out.

I'm very elderly.  My children need to be able to contact me to arrange care for myself and wife (who has dementia).

Hi mama-george

I'm really sorry to hear this.

Please can you add your name and TalkTalk landline number to your Community Profile, I can then take a look at this for you.

Thanks

Debbie

@mama-george, two posts came through today, so I'll move the other one out of the way to avoid confusion etc.

Staff reply during the day on here (Monday to Friday).

Any notification emails you receive will be from a No Reply email address, so always post back in the thread, once staff respond.

Do you have more than one phone/extension socket? If the main phone socket has a test socket have you tried connecting there? Have a look here for details:

https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Your-guide-to-main-phone-sockets/ta-p/2205432

Subject to that, the support team here will be happy to help. But you need to make sure that your personal details including TalkTalk phone number and/or account number are complete on your community profile (click here) so that they can link your forum identity with your account and then wait for them to respond.
