I'm thinking of joining TalkTalk from BT and have spoken to 'chat' about a number of issues. Something that came up was that TalkTalk does not offer a land line - only broadband. If I stayed with BT for my land line and switched to TalkTalk for my broadband then I will hit trouble soon when BT wants to switch me off my copper land line to their Digital Voice service. At that point I will not have their router/broadband but potentially a TalkTalk one. Logically at this point I would lose my landline number as anybody dialing it would have no where to go. Is this right(?) - TalkTalk does not offer a land line?

Hi quarkrad1,
Going forward, voice service will be provided by VOIP as copper voice services are being phased out. This is available on our FTTP services only. Have you spoken with our Sales Team directly to see if FTTP and VOIP is available to you? Please let us know if you'd like any more info on our VOIP service or how it works.
Thanks
Michelle

Traditional ADSL and FTTC always comes with the landline, @quarkrad1, but may no longer be offered by Talktalk in your area.
You'd need to ask for a VOIP package with Fibre to the Premises.
Are you able to get FTTC first with Talktalk?
That would require spelling out that you want to keep your phone number.
Once it's on Talktalk's network it would be possible to keep the number with VOIP when Full Fibre is installed later.
Check out this scenario via Chat.
