No phone connection

My phone has not been working for over a week. Unable to receive or make calls. There is no dial tone, a sort of static noise can be heard on the line. I have tried alternate hand sets with the same result. My broadband is working normally.

I used the online "line test" that opened a case and said to check back for results. NO changes were posted, the page is gone now and it is letting me run another test and open another case, my phone is still not working.

We dont have an alternative phone to use right now so need to get this fixed ASAP.

I have found a spare phone wire and tested it and my phone is working now. It turns out it was the wire running from the phone to the micro filter in my router that was faulty.  My phone seems to be working normally now.

I dont need an engineeer any more. Thanks for all your help and replies

Morning,

Thanks for confirming. The line test is still detecting the same loop fault. If all testing has been completed at the test socket with 2 different handsets, with and without the microfilter connected then the next step will be to arrange an engineer visit to the property.

If you'd like to go ahead with this then please can you confirm acceptance of possible time related engineer charges and also provide a few days availability for this visit AM (8-1) and PM (1-6) and we can arrange this engineer visit for you.

Thanks

Michelle

OK I am plugged back into the test socket.

That points to a possible issue with the faceplate. Can you leave it connected at the test socket for now, so that the support team can check again?

No I plugged it back into the normal socket after I tested it

Good morning,

I'm sorry to hear this. The line test has detected a loop fault which can often be caused by internal wiring or equipment connected to the line. Is the phone still connected to the test socket at the moment please?

Thanks

Michelle

I just tried using the test socket, same result. The right details should be in my profile

Have you tried connecting directly at the test socket if you have one? Subject to that, if you would like the support team to look into this for you make sure that your personal details including TalkTalk phone number and/or account number are complete on your community profile (click here) so that they can link your forum identity with your account and then wait for them to respond.
