Phone Line Test

Hello

I have a fault message after testing my phone line but no resolution?

I decided to test my line as it came up as a option as it does among various tests we as users can carry out. The test suggested I may have a fault although I am not experiencing any known problems with my telephone line. This is the second time within a month I have tested my line and a fault was indicated

The message back simply states the test has completed and if I am experiencing issues I should contact talktalk.co.uk/tech to chat with one of the team. The message does not say a fault was actually found and rectified.

I find these messages a little puzzling as I said I am not actually experiencing a problem with my phone line.

Has anyone else had a similar experience and what exactly will the tech person do or ask for?

Thanks in anticipation.

I have had the same problem yesterday. After running the line test a fault was supposedly found ( Ref: REP 13515790). What the fault is, I have no Idea. Later I received a text stating 'we have completed the test on your line. If you're still experiencing issues, we will need to investigate this further.' When I logged on to my account today the fault is still showing as an open case. When I contacted live chat the person kept asking me what the problem was. I do not know as you found it during the line test. Is there a fault or not, and if so how do I find what that fault is?

Thanks Michelle

Yes my line seems ok so as suggested it seems I can forget the line test suggestion of a fault.

Morning,

I've run a test on the line now which is clear. Is everything ok with your connection?

Thanks

Yes, I do get this, @Giraffe, and have reported the issue to support staff.

In fact my line does have an intermittent fault, so it's even more confusing trying to work out which results truly indicate a fault or not!

Wait and see if anybody mentions to you that they couldn't get through first time - it could be something that you would not always notice when calling out.

Staff can also run line tests for you, get you to check with nothing else plugged in at the test socket etc.

Sadly the TalkTalk tests are not always reliable and do sometimes return false negative results. If you haven't actually noticed any issues affecting your service then I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I am sure others will comment from their own experiences.
