How do I make an international call on TalkTalk and reverse the charges?

Thanks for digging that one out, @fr8ys.

My researches had got as far as the fact that the person you've asked to pay for the call pays the whole lot.... but was waiting to see if we heard anything back, as Talktalk should have something about this on their information pages.

After all, it could work the other way around and someone here could be asked to do the call by a friend requesting a reverse charge from abroad. People need to know what they are letting themselves in for if they are a Talktalk customer paying up!

It seems to have fallen off the Talktalk radar a bit.

Understandable, if so many can use other tech these days, but it should still be up there as a possibility.

This was answered last year by @Arne-TalkTalk here

https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Home-Phone/international-operator/td-p/3078250

where he stated,

To arrange to make a reverse charge call (also known as a collect call), please call the inland operator on 100 or the international operator on 155. A reverse charge call is paid for by the person receiving the call rather than the one making it.

Please remember to mark Solved Posts with Best Answer. Doing so helps other customers and saves TalkTalk's Support Team time by only looking at unsolved topics. Thanks, Steve (a fellow customer).

@WeeShell and @Philile-TT,

I have highlighted this thread to the forum manager for clarification, as reversed calls are something which the UK telecoms system uses. Talktalk should be familiar with the process.

The only information I can find is to call 155 and ask for the international operator. The recipient should be aware that they are likely to face an exorbitant charge.

@Gliwmaeden2, I have provided the information about international calls as we do not reverse the call charges, I am providing detailed information about international calls on how to make them and also the charges for each country.

@WeeShell, I don't know if there is a charge for dialling 155.

Perhaps @Philile-TT could check that for you as it's quite difficult and time-consuming to find these things in their tables in the call costs link.

The other option, @WeeShell is just to use Messenger or WhatsApp or Teams etc by arrangement with the person.

@WeeShell, according to BT's pages, you dial 155 to speak to the international operator:

@Philile-TT the information above does not appear to detail how to reverse the charge.

I believe these are sometimes known as collect calls.
