Where my telephone wire enters my property, it goes to a junction box under my guttering, the box has broken, exposing the telephone connection wires to the weather, even though my phone is working at the moment, it needs an engineer to fix th problem.

Just a quick update, phoned openreach & told them about my issue, an engineer arrived 5 hours later & fitted a new junction box, nice to know that issues highlighted on this community page can result in a satisfactory outcome.

Hi Alan,
As advised, we can only arrange an engineer visit if you are currently experiencing problems with your service. If you're concerned about the box you could try reporting it directly to Openreach - Report damage, vandalism or a health & safety issue | Openreach

Yes, you want to catch "a stitch in time", @AlanR7, but it's usual for the companies not to intervene unless a fault has actually developed.
I suppose they are always running to keep up with the faults, so cautionary action is very low on their list.
At least reporting it puts the ball in their court.

Thanks for your response, but because water can now enter the exposed connections when it rains, it will cause problems in the future.

Staff should pick up your post on Friday, @AlanR7.
Usually nothing is done until the line shows a fault, however.
