Why does TalkTalk not provide sip address for residential customer wishing to use a voip phone.  People are not able to configure a voip phone without a sip[ address.

In my opinion because TalkTalk don't wish to support VOIP 'phones. Hey, if you've gone to the expense of buying a VOIP 'phone then why don't you port the VOIP service to a VOIP service provider that will not only give you the setup details they'll offer you a cheaper tariff for VOIP calls. Why stick with standard call charges when you can save big-time?

NB porting out a number may well require a cease and re-provide of the broadband service.

The TalkTalk Digital Voice service (VOIP) is offered to some customers and all they need is a standard BT approved handset / base station. No VOIP 'phone is required.

TalkTalk Consumer does not offer a competitive VOIP tariff and does not try to compete with the VOIP service companies offering cheap calls.
