Will phone line be cut off?

My 85 year old dad with memory problems has received a phone call to say his phone line will be cut off. Is this likely to be a scam as I can’t find anything in the account to verify this?

Hi @Kevin2569 never made easy is it. A website such as think broadband has some very good tools, one of them allows you to check an exchange in planned to shut down.

Give that a try?

Alternatively you could try again on chat and be your dad?

@Kevin2569

Nominated user status is really mainly for support with billing issues:

https://help-centre.talktalk.co.uk/Manage_account/Change_of_circumstance/Nominated_user

For more responsibilities, you'd really need to have Power of Attorney authority to act etc:

https://help-centre.talktalk.co.uk/Manage_account/Change_of_circumstance/Power_of_Attorney_Authority...

That would take time to set up, so the only way to help just now is to have a family member or trusted friend  / neighbour phone from your father's, with him present to pass security checks.

Phone support closes at 7pm, Live Chat shuts at 9pm on weekdays.

I phoned but they wouldn’t discuss his account with me even though I’m named on the bill and receive the email bills.  They needed to speak with him personally but as he lives in a different city to me it’s not possible as he doesn’t retain any information.

Hi @Kevin2569 highly likely to be a scam as TT can be pretty bad at telephoning anyone.

For full assurance contact the number in my signature at the bottom of this reply.
