Failure to record programmes

Message 2 of 2
My TalkTalk box does not record when I set it up to record a programme on ITV1 or ITV1+1. I spent over 1½ hours on Live Chat yesterday talking to Ganesh who checked all the connections & settings & found everything was okay. We retuned all the channels but it still failed to record. It records programmes on BBC1&2 & on Channel 4. Sometimes it seems to have recorded but when we replay it the recording only lasts a few seconds. I think we need a new box. What more can I do?

I assume you have a YouView box, but if not please let us know.
These boxes are approaching end of life now and recording failure can be a symptom of this, with the hard drive failing.
Poor signal quality can also be an issue, caused by transmitter work , or atmospheric disturbances, so it may be worth checking with the Freeview website to see if there is any planned maintenance occurring or with neighbours to see if they have an signal issues. Does your tv picture show any pixillation for example.
TalkTalk no longer provide boxes that record and have not done so for over 3 years now.
You coud try a maintenance reset, the keep recordings option will attempt to repair the hard drive, the lose recording will repair it if its possible, but if it is failing it could go into a loop and be unrecoverable but if recording is important to you its worth trying..
