Had the new hub working now cannot use remote apart from turning it of and on

You seem to have 2 issues here.
First the aerial issue. Have you checked that the aerial is plugged in correctly? Double check as a lose connection can result in no channels.
What happens if you plug the aerial directly into the TV? Do you get any channels? If not then its an issue with the aerial and you will need o consult a local installer.
Regarding the remote, on the homepage what happens if you press the home button? Can you move the centre arrows to get to settings?
If so and the TV gets channels try a factory reset to remove any bugs in the software.
