Yet another reason why you should not accept the 4K TV box.

Regular readers will be well aware of my hatred for the 4K TV box with its numerous faults; I posted 14 of them a while back.

Now another has come to light: if the box is recording a programme, it is impossible to change live channels until the recording has finished. Ye Gods!

I think the time has come for me to ditch this pile of junk and buy a decent PVR. Can anyone recommend the best one to get?

At last some good news about my hated Talktalk 4K TV box: I will soon be rid of it and my life will be much happier without it.

I hate this box with a vengance; there is so much wrong with it as I have listed in my original post.

The good news is that, at  last, Manhattan have released their PVR 4k-R (R for record). This box will do everything I want and the cost of £169 will be covered by handing back Talktalk's 'pile of poo' as I call it. What possessed them to supply this Netgem rubbish?

My advice; check out the Manhattan 4k TV PVR https://manhattan-tv.com/freeview/manhattan-t4r-tv-recorder

You might need to start another topic in order to streamline your community identities!

Staff can sort this out if you have had trouble with the new sign in system, but they won't be back till Wednesday at the earliest  - probably into the new year for this sort of thing!

I can't see your previous post. Was it under another user name?

This is one in sure I've seen on a long list as the box only has one tuner so you cannot watch one channel while recording another. So while recording it's the same. You cannot change channels while recording as it only has one tuner.

If you want to watch another channel you need a separate feed to your TV tuner

As to other boxes, there are Freeview play or YouView boxes available at reasonable cost. I've just bought a BT Pro box that allows 4 recordings at a time from CeX for £65.
