For help with your TalkTalk TV box, channels and apps.
yesterday
I have a YouView box which is connected to the internet via cat6 cable and talktalk wifi router. I also have a smart TV. I recently learnt that Al JAzeera had moved to streaming and could be acccessed via channel 251 on a TV with Freeview Play. When I retuned the TV, channel 251 appeared and I could see Al Jazeera playing.
However when i retuned the YV box, i saw a blue screen for channel 251 with a message stating to connect to the internet - however I am already connected and so dont understand. Pls see attached photos.
when I contacted Freeview, they stated ' Freeview Play is not essential to receive streaming channels on the Freeview Platform.
If you can receive the Al Jazeera channel on your TV, then you should be able to receive it on your YouView box, as long as the box is connected to the same aerial and also connected to your home broadband.
If re-tuning the channels on the box does not restore channel 251, you will need to contact the box manufacturer for further technical support.'
any help would be appreciated
thanks

I should add that YouView is not Freeview. It picks up the Freeview signals but not the add-ons.
Another thing you will find won't work is TPTV encore via the red button. The music channels on the C4 network on their red button service also never worked.

Oh and by the way, the messages you are getting are generic and aimed at all devices that will not connect or have the incorrect hardware, etc.

YouView boxes will not stream channels from the box. The broadcast system is different from that used by catchup apps and these boxes do not include the necessary hardware to play these channels.
freeview play boxes and TVs incorporate both methodes of delivery.
if you wish a technical explanation this can be found using a websearch, but these results are, as said technical in nature.
