My Connection tool

At ‘Service-Status-Dashboard’, at https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Service-Status-Dashboard/bd-p/service, I can see the picture below.

It is right at the bottom of the page, which means that when one goes to the page, one does not see it, unless one scrolls down considerably, and one already knows that one has to scroll there.

When one is directed to the page, one simply sees a link to ‘My Connection’, which is a different   thing.

Be that as it may, there is something else here.

When I select ‘Our Websites & Support’, I see the following pop-up:

  We're really sorry for any delay getting through to us
  or issue that you're experiencing with your service.
  If you're able to you can check your connection for any issues using our My Connection tool
  We also have lots of helpful information across our help site

  Thank you for your patience.

My issue is the link, My Connection tool. If you put your mouse over it, you will see that the link is not that impressive.

Be that as it may again, after I select the link, I am asked to log into MyAccount, which I do.

So, I am logged into the main page of MyAccount.

What happens next? Nothing.

I would like to navigate to My Connection tool.

Does anyone know the real web address link to ‘My Connection tool’?

As is this thread. Which is why I am locking it and moving it.

@fr8ys

In that case, the My Connection Tool link is meaningless.

I might as well go to MyAccount directly, in the usual way.

Why would anyone need a My Connection Tool link to take them to MyAccount?

Edit: And is the user/customer supposed to be a mind reader, to guess that the link is

'so you can the run a Connection test'?

I think you will find it is just a question of terminology used by whoever wrote the text.

When you check your connection you are using a Tool provided by TalkTalk to check if you have any issues.

They will be one and the same and the My Connection Tool link is only taking you to My Account so you can the run a Connection test.

I was hoping, that the ‘My Connection tool’ link is NOT the same as the ‘My Connection’ link.

The ‘My Connection’ link is

at MyAccount --> MyAccount avatar --> Networks & Connections -->  My Home Connection

-->  https://support.talktalk.co.uk/

or

at ‘Service-Status-Dashboard’, at https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Service-Status-Dashboard/bd-p/service --> My Connection --> https://support.talktalk.co.uk/

Yes, the ‘My Connection’ link, at https://support.talktalk.co.uk/ can be accessed, whether one is logged into MyAccount or not. If not logged in, one will be asked to log in to MyAccount. But after logging in, it will continue to https://support.talktalk.co.uk/, where it immediately starts, to do its thing.

The result of it doing its thing is:

The single measurement, the current Speed to your router,  e.g. 78 Mbps download speed

It also tries to give the guaranteed speed,                                              e.g. Your guaranteed speed is 4 Mbps

In my case, it always gets the guaranteed speed wrong, as above.

Also, more than 50% of the time, it cannot cope, and gives the following error message:

     We’ve run into a problem
Sorry, we’re working hard to resolve this issue. Please try again later.
In the meantime, you may be able to find support on our Help and Support pages.

So, I hope, that the ‘My Connection tool’ link is NOT the same as the ‘My Connection’ link,

@Gliwmaeden2

As you know, I don't use a mobile phone to do anything with TalkTalk.

But it seems, using a PC, I can see everything you can see with a mobile phone,, but much more on a single screen.

What you have shown me, is 'My Connection', not 'My Connection tool'

But that's OK

Thanks

The layout varies by device, @Billx, so not a problem seeing the start of the options re service status etc on my Samsung phone:

I'm not at home, so this is just London Liverpool Street free wifi, but, while logged into the forum, no problem reaching the updates in My Connection:

 Maybe try that, if it's glitchy in My Account?
