Slow speed

yesterday

hi guys,

This is after 5 weeks of complaining to Talktalk about  my 5% drop in speed from my guarantee 50mbs and them trying to convince me that the fault was my device,or somthing in the property !

update  an engineer from TalkTalk came this morning,

The conclusion =   The drop in speed from my guaranted 50mbs to now 45mbs is being caused somewhere outside the property as he could only get the 45mbs after his checks.  When askes he could not say where the drop was coming from and would report it to TalkTalk.

Most annoying though, when a hour after he left I get an Email to saying the engineer has repaired the fault. "If you are still experiecing problems...........!!!!!!!!"

As it seems to be an ongoing fault , I may ask for a monthly reduction in cost untill the fault is repaired. ( will not hold my breath )

Hi Mike,

Just to add that the time related engineer charge would not apply if the fault is located on Openreach maintained equipment.

Thanks

Hi Mike

Thanks for your reply.

Would you like me to arrange an Openreach engineer visit so they can take a look?

Hi Debbie, I had a new router about 2 weeks ago, The engineer you sent out from TalkTalk checked all that ,even replacing the master socket but no change in speed.

I was told by an engineer who fitted the fibre cable to the pole outside thhe property ( not connected at the cabinate ) that BT sometimes lower the speed through the copper cable because of excessive usage,  That was his opinion so take with "a pinch of salt"

It that was the case it would mean someone with a higher pay grade than us to investigate that side .

Hi Mike

Ok, I just want to check a couple of things. When did we last send you a new router?

Is the router connected at the master socket/test socket at the moment?

I do not think the FTTP will be connected for at least  a year or more.

As a retiired electronics engineer ( but not in the internet side, mainly Tv, radio ,etc.)

I could understand intermmitent drops in speed  but to go from a 2-3 year stable 50mbs to a STABLE 45mbs over night something drastic must have happened but what?

Hi Mike

Was FTTP not available when you upgraded?

I've checked again and the predicted speed range for your line is showing between 52mb and 46.8mb, with a guaranteed minimum speed of 42.1mb.

We can arrange an Openreach engineer visit to take a look at the speed, but we can't guarantee if they will be able to increase the speed, it depends on their findings.

Hi  Debbie,

not sure how to send screen shot as I am new to this community threads.

My main greavence (f that is what it is ,)  is after 2 years of a stable 50mbs I renewed the contract for another 2 years. expecting the same and accepting the £9 increase.  I was not told at that time that the speed would drop to a stable 45 by the Agent who renewed the contract for me, so I assumed the speed would still be the stable 50 as befor.

Will not be contacting you again or Talktalk, I will wait till the fibre cable is live then I will see about changing supliers.

Thanks for your input and the rest of the team

Regards

Hi Mike

Apologies for this.

I've checked and the minimum guaranteed speed for your line is showing as 42.1mb. Your line is currently in sync at just over 47mb.
