It would be really helpful if Talktalk could post in the pricing area whether calling 159 is free....nice and clearly and conspicuously!
Ordinary searches online tend to give an AI answer which says it's definitely not free.
Important to know, as, calling from my mobile on a Three plan, it's not even recognising that number....
Away from home I borrowed the use of someone's landline to approve my transaction. This wasn't an emergency situation, but could have been - my bank was just choosing to check up on what was going on!
At home, if my smartphone still cannot ring through to 159, I'd like to be sure that the number is free from my landline.
The Chatbot for Talktalk says it is free.
But having so many online results showing otherwise, I thought I would like to get the information from a human being.
After dealing with technical glitches on Chat I was assured I would be put through to the billing department.
This didn't materialise and I gave up.
So the long and the short of it is:
is phoning 159 free from a Talktalk landline?
I find the "pricing" pages very difficult to navigate and comprehend at the best of times.
It would be helpful to have an information page that not just tells us that the number is available, but spells out that it is free to call from a TT landline.

Thanks for your reply. I was right to be suspicious of the Chatbot response:
Really shocking! Please feed this back, as it simply won't do.
Many customers would take that on trust.
After checking, if they used the number and after the Chatbot's reassurance, presumably any charges would be refunded?

Hi @Gliwmaeden2
It my understanding that its not a free call at the moment, its charged at standard rate, obviously if you have the unlimited boost then its free
The https://stopscamsuk.org.uk/our-work/159-phone-number/ website says that they are pushing to get this classed as a "Type A" number such as a 999.
Hope that helps.
