early exit fee end of contract!

My TT contract ends on 17th March, so I sorted another supplier out to start on the 17th.

I then tried to contact via chat to cancel my TT service and any renewal, they were not helpful and did not solve my issue.

I then received emails from TT confirming I was switching to another provider, it then said my full fibre service would end on 16th Feb!? and charging me an early exit fee of £10.06.

This isn't what i requested.

Its very simple, I want my contract to end on 17th March 2025, which it is scheduled too, and i want the service to end on that day.

I then arranged another service to begin the same day.

Its not rocket science and I don't expect to pay an early exit fee and lose my service a month before my contract ends.

Please help

@shamrox You were charged 3 days after the 17th (18th,19th&20th) March, because the bill that was adjusted generated on the 17th.

@shamrox kindly be advised that the switch order would have needed to be cancelled by the gaining provider before any changes can be made. TalkTalk would have not been able to cancel the switch order.

Hi

thank you, although I understand the switch order should have completed on 17th March and I contacted TT in plenty of time for this.

have I been charged for service past 17th March? despite also paying for my new service which started 17th March?

thanks

Hi there @shamrox , the outstanding amount has been adjusted. There is currently no outstanding bill on your account. The switch order completed on the 14/04/2025 and the bill was generated on the 21st of March due to the account still being active on the system. The account is now disconnected with no outstanding balance.

Hi again,

I paid my february bill which covered up to 24th March 2025 and I switched on 17th March 2025, so I would expect a refund, but I checked my account and I am still being billed and told i owe money.

This is incorrect. I am in fact due a refund.

Everytime i contact them someone confirms I left and nothing changes. 😞

Hi shamrox

I can confirm that the switch order is set for the 17th, and there is no cancellation fee as you are in the last 30 days of your contract.

Sorry for any confusion.

@shamrox, the problem is that you may have contacted Talktalk too early. Their systems only cope with exactly a month's notice of leaving, so the last month of your contract is the earliest you can choose to leave without incurring termination fees.

And if you notify them sooner, the system appears to flip.

Staff can look into the details of the timing. They respond during the day [Monday to Friday].
