BT has no direct contact with TalkTalk customers; therefore, it is a definite scam.

The TalkTalk Community has now moved to a peer-to-peer support model. This means that the TalkTalk team will no longer be here to support with queries. Don’t worry, there are plenty of ways to reach out if you need to speak to TalkTalk directly. For more details check out the link here How to contact TalkTalk Broadband - TalkTalk Help & Support

@Counttuten, it will be a variant of the scam where they pretend to be Microsoft etc. They are just trying to sound plausible by saying BT.

Your Internet doesn't even have a static IP address anyway, as a residential service, so it was absolute rubbish.

Gliwmaeden2, a fellow customer.

From the 29th of March our TalkTalk Community will move to peer-to-peer support and the TalkTalk team will no longer be here to support with queries. Don’t worry we still have plenty of ways to reach out if you need to speak to TalkTalk directly. For more details check out the link in the post at the top of any forum message board.

@Counttuten while you discuss if this is a scam with @amahle-TT if you have any concerns regarding your IP address, turn off your router for at least 30 minutes, and if a full fibre customer, your ONT box too as this will start a new session and allocate a new IP.

Btw, If it was BT supposedly calling you, it suggests a scam as you are not a BT customer.
