Hi just placed an order for talk talk switching from sky on fttp broadband.
My email and my account when logged in say I am due an engineer at my address on October 10th to install services. I've never needed this before as I have fttp broadband with an ONT box. Is this just a general error?
I actually had an text from openreach today saying they are looking forward to activating my nee service on behalf of talktalk.
I spoke to someone at talk talk on live chat and they said I need an engineer.
Is this true? I assumed with me having an ONT box, that it's just switched on remotely on the switch over day with no engineer needed?
But my talk talk account when I login says my enginneer will arrive on October 10th to install it at my address.
Anyone help on this?

The engineer needs to go to switch the service as it was with Sky, but it is basically an insurance policy to ensure that the service is working correctly on the go live date.

Hi arne.
When I switched to sky broadband no enginneer was needed, they simply switched me over on the change over day. Are you sure an engineer is correct?
As openreach have sent me a text saying they will activate my broadband on the 10th (the same text I got when I was with sky)
I'm not sure why an engineer is needed when I already have an ONT box and have direct fibre to the home so no drilling or setting up is needed?
Is this a new thing in regards to enginneers?

@Louise961 Sorry , I was looking at a different account, You are correct the order is progressing to the 10th, in relation to the original question an engineer does have to attend with all FTTP activations even if the equipment is already there.

Switching to and between Full Fibre products is not yet as slick as the old FTTC switch, @Louise961.
Put your order number / account number in your personal information details for Talktalk staff to check what's up.
Go via your avatar/name; settings. Any extra information can go in Private Notes at the end of that section. SAVE CHANGES.
Staff reply during the day, Monday to Friday.
