Just moved house, engineer now says we won't be able to have a connection for about a month??

Just moved to our new house. We were still in contract with Talktalk at the old house, so I used the moving home option. The address checker tells me that Talktalk is available at the new address, and I schedule an appointment with an engineer for today.

The engineer shows up today, initially says he just needs to run a line, then tells us there's something wrong with the pole he needs to run the line from, and that a more skilled engineer will be sent out in three to four weeks, maybe. We can't go that long without a connection, we work remotely.

Now I feel a bit lied to that the address checking tool told us we could have a connection here from today. I would not have extended my contract with Talktalk if I'd known that it would take up to a month to get connected.

Is there anything I can do? Either to get connected sooner, or to get out of this contract so I can go find a provider that already has a line here?

Hi Uuseernaamee

Talktalk is available in the area, but if there is a problem with the pole you will have the same problem with any provider that uses the BT Openreach network,  Openreach are responsible for the repairs if a specialist engineer is required the only option is to wait.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Add details of your old Talktalk address in Personal Information in your profile area, @Uuseernaamee.

Go via your avatar/name; settings.

At the end of that section, in Private Notes, add your new address. SAVE CHANGES.
