Hi,
Hoping for some help with this - with apologies in advance for the amount of detail.
I've got a 250Mbit G.Fast product, which until recently has been amazing.
Last Tuesday (18th) some idiot decided to destroy the green street cabinet with their car in the small hours. This caused a flurry of activity over a couple of days from Openreach whilst they replaced it.
Since Saturday the cabinet has been unattended and appears to be completed fixed. The connection came back on, later that day.
Since then however, it has been up and down for several hours at a time, several times a day. My wife who often works from home, cannot rely on the connection, and our mobile signal is not good enough for her to hotspot.
The texts I get from Talktalk with status updates have had varying dates for the restoral of services which have come and gone, but given there now appears to be nothing wrong with the part of the network which was damaged, I fail to see why the connection keeps dropping.
The fault tracking on my account is also of no help, the most recent update stating "An engineer is on the way to the exchange, Updated: 8:17 on 18/02/2025". (Reference number REP-15334515 if it helps).
I did have a call from someone over the weekend, informing me of the details of the problem (which I already knew) and telling me that they would keep me up to date with any developments. I foolishly told them that the connection was back up and running, and have not been able to get hold of a human to speak to since then.
I'd be really grateful for any update you could provide, and also any information on compensation for lack of service (even on days when a partial service was available). Many thanks.

Hi Michelle,
Thanks for this... it's just frustrating that the damaged component seems fine and yet the connection is still up and down.
I await developments!

Good morning,
I'm sorry to hear this. I've checked the fault and I can see that it is linked to a major outage. The latest update from Openreach is that they are still working to fully restore service and that the next update is due on 10/03. We'll keep monitoring the fault for you here and will post back once we receive a further update.
Thanks
Michelle
