Public IP for Plex Media Server

Hello.

I’m looking to set up my own media server through Plex to access remotely from any network.

This server works great on the local network through an indirect connection, but I cannot enable remote access, as the the public IP listed on Plex isn’t the same as the public IPv4 address listed on my router login page.

It’s trying to connect to an IP that goes like 103.x.x.x, whereas my actual public IP is 89.x.x.x. I’ve been informed that this “89” address isn’t actually my public IP, and that it’s actually quite uncommon to see this type of public IP listed.

I’m wondering if you can provide me with my actual public IP? Thanks.

What make/model of router do you have, then I will be able to tell you where to find out this information. However, I don't see why your plex needs this, its ports should be forwarded to it from the public IP address in the router if you have set up port forwarding in the router.

The TalkTalk Community has now moved to a peer-to-peer support model. This means that the TalkTalk team will no longer be here to support with queries. Don’t worry, there are plenty of ways to reach out if you need to speak to TalkTalk directly. For more details check out the link here How to contact TalkTalk Broadband - TalkTalk Help & Support
