Hi.
I have a second FAST 5364 router I would like to use in a cabin in my garden which has ethernet running in to it (from my other FAST 5364 router in the house). When I first connected the second router to it it would only show an orange light and, when trying to load a webpage, gave a DNS error.
For the second router, I have now changed WAN Addressing Type to STATIC (from DHCP) on the Internet Connectivity page of the TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub settings (it is DHCP in the house router settings) and the light is now white (yippee!) but I am still getting a DNS error.
Are there any other Wi-Fi Hub settings I need to change?
Thanks,
Adam

Hi @AdamC3 glad you got sorted, some things just need hands on.
Thanks to @KeithFrench for his advice!

Hi All,
The configuration of the cabin router has now been completed by an IT savvy family friend. I was not around when he did it so can't see what he changed (I will check at some point) but he did state it wasn't straightforward as he couldn't change the settings in the fields he expected them to be in.
Thanks for all the help,
Adam

Good morning. Thank you for the support @KeithFrench

Sorry, yes, when changing the IP address of the router, you must also change the DNS scope on the same page to the new network 192.168.2.10 to 192.168.2.254. In addition, set this DNS page to 192.168.2.1 as well:-
Dashboard > See Wi-Fi Settings > Manage Advanced Settings > TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub > DNS
As I said earlier, you will not be able to manage the garden router from a device connected to the house one.

Hi @KeithFrench,
Many thanks for the instructions. I updated the cabin router IP address to 192.168.2.1 but got an error on the DHCP IPv4 Pool Start and End fields so switched DHCP off then applied changes. I got a message to close the window so did but now cannot connect to the cabin router settings via 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1. I rebooted the cabin router but it is now displaying an orange light.
Note I have not yet changed the WiFi network name (SSID) and Wi-Fi password to match my house router as I have run into the above issue.
Any thoughts on how to resolve?
Thanks,
Adam

Hi @AdamC3
OK, you have a Double NAT setup. That can be a slight problem for some people, but only when port forwarding is used & it is easy enough to get around.
What you need to configure here is that both routers must be on separate IP networks. If, for example, the house router is on 192.168.1.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, you could set the garden router to use 192.168.2.1, again with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. The networks use choose, though, is up to you. Set the WiFi network name (SSID) and Wi-Fi password to be the same across both routers. One thing to note in this scenario, though, is that a device connected to the house router will not be able to log into the garden router.

Hi @KeithFrench,
My connection set up is:
1. ADSL cable from Master Socket 5C to house router Broadband port
2. Ethernet cable from house router yellow Ethernet port to cabin router red WAN Ethernet port

Adam

Hi @AdamC3
How do you have the two 5364s connected together over Ethernet? Is it via a yellow Ethernet port on each router or is it via a yellow Ethernet port on the house router to the red WAN Ethernet port on the outside 5364?

Hi Adam, sorry it's taken a while to get back, what we are really trying to do is make the outdoor router into an access point, and I've found no settings to do this.
I would try the following with no certainty any will work.
With my limited knowledge I would defer to @KeithFrench who would surely put his finger on the issue in seconds.
Sorry to run you around the universe of stars Adam but I don't wish to waste your time on a setup I can't replicate. Good luck, if it can be done Keith will figure it out😁

Thanks Kanya. Note the second router is connected via ethernet cable to the house router (the house router is connected to a Master Socket 5C).

Tell you what Adam, I can run checks for you on my end (TT diagnostics systems) with your router but the setup you have there is not something I am familiar with, like how is it connected to master socket and can a master socket have two points for broadband, well not to my knowledge. So, let's see what @Divsec advises.

Hi Divsec,
Please see attached screenshots for DNS settings from my house router, the fields are blank on the second router.
With respect to the Primary DNS Server field being populated but the warning message indicating it should be blank, can you advise (the house router currently works fine so I do not want to break anything!).
Thanks,
Adam

Hi Kanya,
Yes, the house router is working fine, I am connected to it now. I will respond to Divsec with the DNS settings now.
Thanks,
Adam

Thank you, Adam, now I understand, what I don't get though is your other router working?

Hi Kanya,
I have 2 as I was part of a test group for the FAST 5364.

Hi @AdamC3 what are the current DNS settings in both routers?
