Hello,
My broadband connection cuts out randomly and I have noticed on my router that the light changes from solid white to amber and it flashes between the two. After a little while its becomes stable white.
I have taken the plug of the router from the wall socket out for more then 30 seconds to no avail.
I ran a connection test and see the message that my router has not been identified.
As I am working from home this is impacting how I work.
Can I please get a new router?

@DarkKnight2050 you need to remove the faceplate.
The test socket only accepts a "telephone" plug so you will need to insert a microfilter and then connect the grey cable from the router to the ADSL socket on the microfilter.

Hi,
Thanks for confirming. The NTE5C should have a test socket behind the faceplate.
Thanks

@Michelle-TalkTalk - Yes, it's the NTE 5C MK 4

@Michelle-TalkTalk Hello Michelle, Unfortunately, my openreach MK4 socket does not have a test line. There is only a socket for what appears to be a shape of a router and an icon of a phone handle.

Morning,
I'm sorry to hear this. I've run a test on the line now which hasn't detected a fault, however I can see re-connections on the line. Does your main socket have a test socket please?
Thanks

Hi @DarkKnight2050,
If your master phone socket has a test socket then you could try the router in there (via a microfilter), that would then eliminate any of the phone wiring in your home as being a possible cause of the problem.
The TalkTalk staff on this community will be able to help, they will hopefully be able to respond to this post tomorrow.

Hello,
We don't use the actual phone line for making calls as we don't have a physical handset.

It could just as well be a line or cabinet issue.
Is the phone line working normally without any extraneous noise ?
Do you have any extensions and are all those filtered too ?
