Hi there I have been having problems with my router (Sagem Talk Talk Wifi Router) dropping WiFi connections to both devices on the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz channels.
Nothing has changed in my setup recently so unsure what it could be. I have noticed that I have lost the white light being on after it has connected back to Talk Talk (After a reset.) I only see the orange blinking light as it connects.
The Wi-fi router has plenty of airflow around it so shouldn't have overheating issues should it?
I bought this router when they first came out so could it be old and develop a fault?
Many Thanks in Advance,
Steven Aldus

The difference in sync speed isn't likely to make any noticeable difference. The router will probably sync at a slightly different speed every time you reboot it as fluctuations in background noise will cause the router to resync at slightly different speeds

I have plugged in the old router and now it has a profile of 45.86 Down and 9.10 Up.
Plugging in the new router sees a profile of 43.4 Down and 7.3 Up!
Why such a variance? Will it matter? I guess the 60 profile was when I had an addon or something when I first moved into the property.
Many Thanks in Advance

Hi Doozy,
Have you checked the line speed recently with the old router as the line test is showing that recent speeds have been no higher than 48.5Mbps and the average is 47.5Mbps?
It's fine to use the old filter

Afternoon Debbie,
I have received the new router and installed it but have a couple of questions.
Does the new router need settling in for line speed as the received speed profiles are now much lower than the old router? I used to have 60 down and 9 up! Now I have 43 down and 8 up!
The new router won't lock on to a signal with the supplied ADSL filter but works with my old one. Is it okay to use my old filter still?
On a side note the Wi-Fi signals seem solid now 😄
Many Thanks in Advance

Morning,
Thanks for confirming. Would you like us to send a Sagemcom router instead to see how the connection compares?

Thanks @KeithFrench
@Doozy Have you added the correct landline number to your Community Profile? I can check which router you have.

Hi @Doozy
Are you sure that you have a Sagemcom router, I can see that in your trace it is a Huawei router (they do look similar)?
If it is the Huawei DF8041W, then this will need to be changed out for the Sagemcom FAST5364, as the Huawei has a bug that causes instability.

Hi @Doozy
Do not worry about interpreting the results, I will do that for you. I will send a PM to you that contains a link for a guide of mine on Wi-Fi interference. It is quite long (about 30 pages), but you will probably only need to look at three or four pages in total. Initially look at the section called "Are you suffering from interference – prove it first". This is the first link in the table of contents. This section includes full details of free Wi-Fi analysers that I recommend for Windows, Windows phone, Android and Apple operating systems. However, I have no way of testing the Apple product. Select the analyser of your choice & my guide explains how to use it.
If you are using Wi-Fi Scanner, then please attach the zip file to this thread. As soon as I have downloaded it, I will remove the attachment from your post, to preserve your privacy.
With all other analysers, please follow my instructions below.
Collect the screenshots that I require and include them in your reply.
Please post the screenshots to me in a PM (to protect your privacy), which I have requested in my guide. No photos please as they can be difficult to read, because the text can get out of focus when zoomed in. Please ensure that the analyser window is maximised (if Windows) before taking the screenshots & upload them via the "Insert Photos" button (in a mobile browser it's the picture icon) on the post editor's toolbar with the Size parameter set to Large.

Hi there thanks for your replies. I am willing to diagnose my router for sure 😄

Hi @Doozy
@Michelle-TalkTalk has asked me to help you.
Slow speed, intermittent dropouts, breaks in the signal or no signal on some or all devices or no internet access might be caused by Wi-Fi interference from other local networks, which can also lead to a permanent reduction in speed. No ISP can be responsible for your local environment, this is mainly a byproduct of the popularity of Wi-Fi.
Generally speaking, the 2.4GHz band suffers a lot more from interference than the much faster 5GHz band, but the 2.4GHz one can sometimes have a better range, but this all depends on your local area.
In other words, I try to help you optimise your Wi-Fi connection. The next stage involves sending out a guide to you to help you get me some important diagnostic results so that I can analyse them for you and recommend changes to your router configuration to solve them.
I only send this out to people who request it.
