Recently got a new router and there seems to be this same problem happening again (disconnected when gaming)—— Can someone check to see if WiFi optimisation has been turned on please, had this problem a few times with gaming lag/connection loss and it has been because this has been reactivated. Please turn this off on my account.

None of the current Sagemcom routers (one of which I assume that you have) has a configuration option for WiFi Optimisation. As @Gliwmaeden2 pointed out, it cannot be disabled, so I don't know why another person seemed to suggest that you could disable it yourself in the router.
I have done many investigations into Wi-Fi where customers think their problems are caused by Wi-Fi Optimisation, virtually all of them have another cause.
Slow speed, intermittent dropouts, breaks in the signal or no signal on some or all devices or no internet access might be caused by Wi-Fi interference from other local networks, which can also lead to a permanent reduction in speed. No ISP can be responsible for your local environment; this is mainly a byproduct of the popularity of Wi-Fi.
Generally speaking, the 2.4GHz band suffers a lot more from interference than the much faster 5GHz band, but the 2.4GHz band can sometimes have a better range; however, this all depends on your local area.
In other words, I offer a free, impartial analysis of your Wi-Fi network and will try to help you optimise your Wi-Fi connection. The next stage involves sending out a guide to help you get me some important diagnostic results so that I can analyse them for you and recommend changes to your router configuration to solve them.
I only send this out to people who request it.

Usually I play over WiFi but I have tried an Ethernet with the same results. It only recently started happening again after getting a new router, I’ve checked my speed and all seems to be good, I don’t have any problems streaming or when playing most games but with GTA5 online and Call of duty games it seems to disconnect me often and I have lag a lot too.

@19NoNickName19, just to double check, how is your gaming console connected? Is this via Ethernet cable or wireless?

It's no longer possible to switch off WiFi optimisation, @19NoNickName19.
Staff will be back on here during the day to respond.
