Will I need to change my Router in to Modem Mode?

Good afternoon.

I have deadzones in my house and I'm looking to upgrade my router to a ASUS DSL-AC88U AC3100 as this has multi directional antennae so hoping that can beam me a good signal. Will I be able to unplug my current TALKTALK router and then just plug the cables in to my Asus and it be fine? Or will I need to put my TALKTALK router in to Modem Mode and connect the new router to it?

Thanks

Have you investigated the problem at all, throwing money at another router might solve it, but then again it might not. I offer free help and that may well resolve it, depending on the cause of the reception issues.

Slow speed, intermittent dropouts, breaks in the signal, no signal on some or all devices or no internet access might be caused by Wi-Fi interference from other local networks, which can also lead to a permanent reduction in speed. No ISP can be responsible for your local environment, this is mainly a byproduct of the popularity of Wi-Fi.

Generally speaking, the 2.4GHz band suffers much more from interference than the 5GHz band, but the 2.4GHz one can sometimes have a better range, but this all depends on your local area.

If you would like me to help you, please can you specify the make/model of TalkTalk router that you are using?

From the 29th of March our TalkTalk Community will move to peer-to-peer support and the TalkTalk team will no longer be here to support with queries.
