Why would you expect the customer to pay for a new router, you supplied and installed it, if it cannot be updated then this is your problem, or would you rather stand and watch as loyal customers like myself will consider cancelling contract and signing up with a different company and getting a brand new up to date router without being asked to pay £80, been with talktalk for many years, however do not like this.

Hello there @treharrisron, thank you for this as I do understand concerns.
So, basically, Telecoms Security Act is government guidance which all Telecoms providers must follow to be compliant, not just TalkTalk. To make things easy for our clients, we have the option for our clients to:
Upgrade Equipment: Purchase our latest, security-compliant models.
Recontract: Out of contract customers can move to a new package with enhanced security features. In-contract customers with 4 months or less remaining can also upgrade.
Furthermore, Customers are not obligated to upgrade and can continue to use their existing equipment if they wish to however Their network and data will not be immediately at risk as we will continue to monitor the security and performance of all devices but once a device is no longer supported by the manufacturer, it may become more susceptible to vulnerabilities over time. This is due to the device not receiving security patches for risks found at a later date.
Lastly, I do apologise for any inconvenience but under the terms of the act we are not obligated to provide the equipment for free however we are offering any routers or Wi-Fi boosters at a discounted price.
