was going to switch provider to shell because of the terrible speed I was getting from TalkTalk

shell promised 17Mbs maybe 36 Mbs but then TalkTalk phoned my mobile

and said I would never get 36 but possibly 17 using my current phone line

also said if I canceled shell I would get

new cheaper 12 months contract 17 Mbs

new better router

well new cheaper price has not started yet although the package shows new

speed is still miserable 9 Mbs like before

and no new router just appalling broadband speed.

fiber is supposed to be coming but no one knows when

I am registered with openreach.

Thanks. We can try resetting the line managment system (DLM) to see if it settles on a faster speed, but if we do this the connection may be a bit unstable over the next few days

Could you post a screenshot of your router connection stats?

Thanks. Are you experiencing any problems with your telephone service, any noise on the line?

And you just have the telephone and router connected to the extension socket via a micro-filter?

Your currently sync speed is 11.2Mbps. How many telephone sockets do you have? Do you have anything connected to your telephone socket(s) in addition to your router?

Hi keitht1958,

If you log into you My Account does it show that fibre is available?

It seems to me like you are stuck on an old ADSL broadband service which may only be able to reach the speeds you are currently getting. No supplier on the Openreach network can do better than any other. They should give an accurate estimate for your address, sadly it seems that both Shell and TalkTalk have resorted to the somewhat unscrupulous tactic of quoting "up to," or maximum figures.

This has been flagged to the support team for you, they can check and advise on the performance of your line.
