When I access webmail using Google Chrome I can't access/update my address book. I get the message
'Failed to start application. Maybe you have connection problems. Please try again.'
Works Ok with Firefox.

Brilliant. You have a workaround using Firefox.
With Chrome it does need a browser Reset. You'll find that in the settings for Chrome. Carry out a reset that returns Chrome to default settings and unloads extensions and any stored cookies and data that might be affecting how it works. Then make sure Chrome is updated to the latest version.
Retry after the reset and update. If that still fails then use Firefox and we'll have to work out why Chrome is failing.
