I received  and email recently telling me that you received a request from me to close my email account which I didn't request and just want to know if this was from your team and what I should do,

As Gliwmaeden2 says, this sounds like a phishing email. Please take a look at the following help article. Phishing emails & everything you need to know - TalkTalk Help & Support

 

If you click on recent examples of phishing emails we've stopped   it lists recent scam emails identified

As an ongoing customer, you have an ongoing email address, @Whitey1, so it must be a scam.

 

Report it as phishing.
