I don't usually spend much time in these forums unless I have a problem. Which I do at the moment. And which has (temporarily, I hope) locked me out of my account for the moment because the login system can't seem to recognise the secure access codes it insists I request.

I'm actually a bit late to the party, but I'm trying to follow the advice from fry8s re associating my email addresses with my Broadband Account. I can get at my emailed bills, so I know my 10 digit account number. What I don't seem to have is anywhere to input it to my profile because there is no entry for Accouht Number. There are two possible fields, Singleview and Customer, but they both appear to be greyed out.

I need to get into my account to check what email address details it still holds for me, and I need a profile field to take my account number.

Any advice will be gratefully received.

@Gliwmaeden2 I understand it's peer to peer from next week for help from TalkTalk. What I want to know is whether these forums will still be accessible, if only to check for previously provided advice, or will they no longer exist?

Peer to peer only from next week, @durdle.

[And that link keeps breaking in my signature.... sigh!]

Gliwmaeden2, a fellow customer.

From the 29th of March our TalkTalk Community will move to peer-to-peer support and the TalkTalk team will no longer be here to support with queries. Don’t worry we still have plenty of ways to reach out if you need to speak to TalkTalk directly. For more details check out the link in the post at the top of any forum message board.

@Gliwmaeden2 Given the document,  How to contact TalkTalk Broadband - TalkTalk Help & Support, I can't  decide whether these forums will continue to exist? Will they?

@mandisa1-TT To be honest, it's  not much help your confirming there are 4 email accounts linked to my btoadband account when another member of your team has submitted a request for the deletion of two of them because I couldn't remember their names and she wouldn't tell me what they are.  I'm  suffering rather here from the lack of continuity in discussing my problem with the team.

@Mandisa-TT So what you're saying is that webmail currently works as it should for me, and the limitations I'm seeing are down to my only having lineone accounts. I can understand that, and I can live with it, but I do have to wonder how long it will be before something else doesn't work. It's  a shame, because, if your team could only have helped me to get my talktalk accounts working again, ie remind me of their names, I might have dreamt up a way to move forward.. Now, I suspect, it's a matter of who/which lasts longer, me or lineone mail access. I'm good for another few years. I'm not so sure about your end. 🤔

At least I have a grasp of what's going on now, so thanks for all the advice etc ftom the support team. And thanks to @fr8ys and @ferguson for helping me understand things a lot better than I did.

Webmail doesn’t currently allow instant‑switching between multiple Lineone accounts from the profile menu. To view the other account, you’ll need to sign out first, then sign back in with the other email address — or continue using incognito for one account and your main browser for the other if that’s more convenient.

Message 29 of 166

@Mandisa-TT  I don't think incognito windows are working normally for me yet in that I can still only access emails for the account I've used to log in. I still can't switch accounts either.

On the other hand, I do agree my browser cookies could do with a spring clean. Anyone got a digital skip I can borrow? 🥴

That’s absolutely right — another simple option is to clear your browser history, as most browsers will let you choose exactly which stored sign‑ins or cookies you want to remove before you confirm the clear‑out.

By removing only the saved sign‑in data for TalkTalk Webmail, the browser will stop automatically logging you into your main account and will show the username and password screen again.

Or simply clear History in any browser which gives you the option of which sign ins to keep or not before actually clearing?

@durdle

From what you’ve described, everything is working normally when you use an incognito window, but your browser automatically signs you in to your main Lineone account when you’re not using incognito. This usually happens when the browser has stored a saved login session or autofill details, which prevents you from choosing which Lineone account to access.

To help fix this, please try the steps below:

Your browser may be automatically signing you into your primary account.
Please clear the stored cookies for TalkTalk Webmail:

  • Go to your browser settings
  • Find Privacy / Cookies / Site Data
  • Search for talktalk.co.uk
  • Delete cookies and site data for that site
This will force the login page to appear again.

Sorry, terminology defect on my part. I meant not properly linked to each other, despite being linked to my account.

If I use an incognito window:

I can see both my lineone email accounts in mailbox manager.

I can log in to webmail using either of the accounts.

I can then see all the incoming emails for that particular account.

I can see a marker for the other account at the bottom on the left hand side, but it is not reactive, and the profile button in the top right corner only shows details of the account under which I am logged in, so that I cannot use it to switch accounts.

At the moment, if I don't use an incognito window, I get taken straight to my main user account, ie without being given the chance to enter a user name and password. I'm not sure how to correct this.

I don't think all this is how things should work.

Any further help gratefully received.

@durdle if you are still able to utilize the emails this means your email is linked to the account.

A massive x step forward, but ...

Using an incognito window in Chrome:

If I log into webmail as jxxxxo@lineone.net, I can see all that account's emails but my profile only shows that account as an option. I can't  access my sxxo emails

If I log into webmail as sxxo@lineone.net, I can see all that account's emails but my profile only shows that account as an option. I can't  access my jxxxxo emails

That suggests to me that my accounts are somehow not properly linked now

I'll experiment a bit, ie see if the window actually needs to be incognito

I could live with what I have, but I'd still prefer to see both accounts in one display

@Mandisa-TT Could you not look at the screenshot I sent with my pm, and advise based on what you see there, rather than what I might see. That way, there will be fewer variables to contend with.

Meanwhile, I can see my account in the left hand box but it has a ! Against it and it is unresponsive.

Thanks. I'll look at your suggestions, but can you please check out the pm I just sent you and let me know if you still think they might work, please? You'll see that my jxxxxo@lineone.net account works but webmail doesnt give any indication of which one it is. PS: I rather think a lot of my problem might be down to my unfamiliarity with this version of webmail. I only ever used to check my main account with it, and it's mailbox manager that has added sxxo@lineone.net to the mix.

Depending on the Webmail layout, the second mailbox often appears as:

A profile / initials button (top‑right) you can click to switch mailbox, or

A left‑hand account list where you click the address to activate it.

Look for any of these and try:

Click your profile/initials, then choose sxxo@lineone.net.

If there’s a “mailboxes” or “accounts” panel, click sxxo explicitly to load its inbox.

If clicking does nothing, it’s almost always a stale session (incognito usually works) or a blocked script (extension).

From what you describe there is an indicator for sxxo but it won't open this is usually one of the following:
A.  session/ browser glitch
which you can try these quick fixes

  • Log out of Webmail completely and close the tab.
  • Re‑open Webmail in a private/incognito window.
  • If it opens there, clear cache/cookies for the Webmail site in your usual browser and try again.
Try a different browser (e.g., Edge/Chrome/Firefox/Safari) and temporarily disable any ad‑blockers, password managers, or privacy extensions on the Webmail page.
