I am getting a message:  "Host contacted  sending login information" in my and my wife's Thunderbird client at bottom of page.

Also get pop up "

Sending of password for user xxxxxxxxxxxx@tiscali.co.uk did not succeed. Mail server mail.talktalk.net responded: [SYS/TEMP] Temporary authentication failure. [proxy-1:2023-10-09 09:39:53]"

Not sure why this happened or what it means.  I've put password in again but still not working.

TT web mail is working.

Internet dropped out earlier - ~09.00 , but mail has worked up until 30 min ago.  Can't see other email problems in community.  Have closed and re-opened T/B, still same.

Any ideas welcome.

  • Working fine currently.  Suggest reviewing at 11:00 tomorrow as has failed at 10:30 the last two mornings.

Hi all, apologies for the delay I've been out for a medical appointment. I did however raise this to our email team before I had to leave. Are you all still seeing the same problem?

Thanks @KeithFrench just had a bunch of mails in, and another "Login to server mail.talktalk.net with username xxxxxxxxx@talktalk.net failed" for wife's account - expect mine shortly!

@Ady-TalkTalk what's the problem and why is it recurring?

Hi @davep 

 

It is very intermittent for me, as all of the problems were down to the TT servers for the last few days or more, there is no logical reason why it should be Thunderbird when it was working fine a few minutes ago. Just tried Windows Mail as a comparison. No error messages, but slow delivery.

 

I suggest that we leave this for TalkTalk to deal now, as they are aware of it.

still getting messages "Login to server mail.talktalk.net with username xxxxxxxxx@talktalk.net failed".  Is it TT or Thunderbird?  I recall getting this regularly with Windows live mail.  It is very irritating and interfering with cricket!

Mine was slow, now Thunderbird can't log into the talktalk.net mil servers again. I have escalated it again as promised......

Wrote too soon, Mailwasher has just shown the same fault as yesterday

@Ady-TalkTalk @KeithFrench @davidl1 just had message "Login to server mail.talktalk.net with username xxxxxxxxx@talktalk.net failed" despite logging in to the 2 accounts this morning.  So still seems a problem here.

and just after posting, "Login to server mail.talktalk.net with username @xxxxxxxx@tiscali.co.uk failed."  and above repeated
