I see I'm not the only one with this issue.
I had exactly the same issue last summer, and the chat help was useless - it was with the intervention of this forum that anything got sorted, but that isn't supported any longer.
To that end I propose we all update this thread if any of us get anywhere with TalkTalk help and support.
I am utterly fed up, but we have to find a solution.
I've just spent an hour on the online chat, and the chap at the other end didn't know what to do or what the problem was - as expected unfortunately. He tried to assure me it would all be fine - it won't be from my personal experience.
I've now raised a complaint, and have emailed heretohelp@talktalkplc.com - I will update this thread with any results I get.
Somebody somewhere at TalkTalk will be able to fix this, as they did for me last year, I just didn't expect to have to go through it again, and without the help of this forum it will be more difficult.
Tuesday
Update from me - I’ve had a response from a complaint to say the mail was sent in error, but they were doing some more digging to see why it happened.
I have to say I don’t have a warm
fluffy feeling about this, but I’ll wait and see.

You can't use a TalkTalk email address to access my account for security reasons.
The issue has been triggered by your having to take out a new account as, I assume, your emails were associated to your old account.
Sorry but you need to keep onto TalkTalk staff to deal with this as it is not an issue caused by you, but TalkTalk, and one they can (fairly) easily deal with by completing a form and sending it to the appropriate department.

Thanks, but the staff (or at least the one I spoke to) was far from versed with what is required.
I moved house in February last year, and had to set up a new account in order to do so - as my @talktalk.net address was the log in for the old account, I had to use a @Yahoo.co.uk address for the new account - which I still use to access my new account. I can't change the email address on the new account to the @talktalk.net address as it is still "live" on the old and now defunct account, which I can still log in to.
Could this be what is causing the problem?
Having said all of that, I really didn't expect to have to go through it all again.

Unfortunately it's a decision TalkTalk have taken, but staff on the phone or chat should be versed in what is required following the last round of emails that went out.
There is a form that was required to be completed by staff and sent to the email team with details of your current account number and all emails you have to associate them to the correct account number
I mention this in the hope that you and any other customers can mention this to staff when you used the phone or chat, or in your case the complaints department.
Hope this helps.

@fr8ys - you mentioned on your locked thread that "if you provide the required information you will not be charged and your email address(es) will be associated with your Broadband Account."
How do we do this?
