I believe my talktalk.net email has been hacked as I am getting a message that my password is wrong. Web Mail is not working and I have received no message from TalkTalk to say a password change request has been made.

Good to know that you can access TalkTalk Mail using your phone's browser. Proves that the mailbox is working and that you know and are using the current new password.

 

So let's stay with the phone. Tell me which model phone it is, what the operating system version is and what email software you wish to use.  I'll guide you to the settings and how to set up or check email app settings.

Thanks - checked and no rules are applied.

 

I was able to get into web mail using your link on my phone (I was trying unsuccessfully on my Mac Book) and I can send from here ok but I still cannot send via normal mail apps on phone or LT.

Sign in to TalkTalk Mail webmail to check the sending.

 

Select here: Sign in to TalkTalk Mail

Enter your email address and password, select Sign in.

 

Select the New email button to compose and self-send the same mailbox a mail message. Check that the message sends without error, is copied into the Sent folder and arrives and stays in the Inbox.

 

Mail not reaching the Inbox could mean there's a Filter rule, including an Auto forward which is a special filter rule, that's diverting, discarding or blocking mail.

  • Select the Main settings menu cog icon      top right on the blue header
  • Select All settings
  • Select Mail and scroll down to Rules
    Select the chevron icon > to see all defined Rules
    If there's no rule defined, that's perfect
  • To delete a Filter rule including any Auto forward
    select the X icon to the right of the rule
    The icon background will turn red  X
  • To confirm you really want to delete this Filter rule
    Select the blue Delete button

Let us know of any error message, or if mail did not arrive in the Inbox or disappeared from the Inbox. Collecting mail messages with a POP3 mail account or mail collection service, like Gmail, may be deleting messages from the online Inbox.

Just says Username or password is incorrect. No code.

 

UN is email and I have just changed the password which was verified.

What's the send error message? There should be a description and a TT three digit error code.

The Reset password now button in the help article  Changing your email password will take you to password reset and recovery. 


If the email address is still active on the TalkTalk Mail platform and you have set up password recovery options, in advance, that you recognise from the *****hints, then you can send your alternate email address a link or your mobile a 6-digit code to authorise a password reset.
