Ask us about your TalkTalk email account and Webmail.

I have ensured that my settings in eMClient are up-to-date ( did update them some time ago, but IMAP kept popping back to 193 I think it was). I have now again reset to:
- IMAP 993 & SSL/TLS on special port (legacy)
and
- SMTP 587/Force usage SSL/TLS
I am able to send email just fine, but for last 3 days not receiving email through IMAP on MClient, but receiving okay on phone (Android).
From what I can see on another thread, I need to advise you of this, you will 'turn on' my IMAP again re my talktalk email address.
Many thanks.

Hi Gondola, sorry for delay - school run!
I did as you said, removed the talktalk email account, rebooted and then added it (manually as emclient didn't recognise) and all seems good now thanks very much. Just have to figure out why emails are being sent to junk so often recently now, but that's another story.
Many thanks, very grateful for your very speedy help.

I do believe that you've just confirmed that your TalkTalk mailbox is fully functional as it's sending and receiving mail using the Gmail app on the Android phone.
Which, as a diagnosis, points to the emClient having a glitch in the TalkTalk account setup as being the issue. So, first, remove the TalkTalk email account from emClient, reboot the computer, and then re-add the TalkTalk email account to emClient.
Retest and let me know.

Yes, I received your email copy of the above post sent to my talktalk email address on my android phone, but not received on eMClient.
I can, and just have, sent myself an email FROM my talktalk email to my gmail account using my android phone (using Gmail app)
It came thorugh eMClient gmail account, just not receiving eMClient talktalk emails. (have both the gmail a/c and the talktalk a/c attached to emclient)

Just confirm please, are you able to send and receive mail messages using the Android email app on an IMAP email account for the same email address as you're using with emClient?
If that is working fine then you may need to reinstall emClient. What operating system are you running on your computer?

Hi Gondola, those are all the settings I have on eMClient.
When I said I could SEND emails from my talktalk address just fine, that's short emails - if there's an attachment it's not sending, even if it's a simple one-page scan attached.
I have up-to-date version - was updated a couple of weeks ago if memory serves. Version is 9.2.1628 (a307a94)
Error message is "IMAP connection timed-out"
Cheers.

Hi muggsy14
If your mailbox is working using an Android 'phone email app using IMAP secure settings then your mailbox does have IMAP access.
Have you updated your emClient software to Version 9 to support the TLS 1.2 encryption required for TalkTalk Mail? Which emClient version are you using?
You'll need to set up emClient as an IMAP account with the following settings:
Account Type | IMAP |
Username | Full email address |
Password | Email password |
Incoming mail server Host | mail.talktalk.net |
Incoming Port (IMAP) | 993 |
Security Policy | Use SSL/TLS on special port (Legacy) |
Outgoing mail server Host | smtp.talktalk.net |
Outgoing Port | 587 |
Security Policy | Force usage of SSL/TLS |
Server Requires Authentication | Yes |
Authentication Method | Normal Password |
