Hi. I've started getting authentication errors when trying to connect to my Lineone emails through Outlook and a mail app on my phone. A couple of weeks ago I received an email that I believed to be from Talktalk but now I think I may be mistaken. How can I get this email address back or at least blocked so the hackers can't use it? Any assistance greatly appreciated. The email I received was about a new and impoved mailbox.

There are a lot of Halifax phishing emails that criminals are sending out so I'm not surprised that you're seeing these as well as ones spoofing TalkTalk Mail addresses that TalkTalk never use for sending out any mail messages. The criminals know your email address now so be prepared to receive more phishing emails.
Report to TalkTalk any ones pretending to be from TalkTalk.
Report a phishing or spam email
You can also report criminal scams by forwarding emails to the UK Government Suspicious Email Reporting Service at report@phishing.gov.uk

Hi Gondola. Thank you for the help, I have managed to reset it now. It looks like no harm was done, my mobile number hadn;t been changed. I am generally very suspicious with emails but this one is very clever if indeed it is a hack. I have been getting a lot of Halifax emails recently and quickly spotted that these were not genuine but this one really caught me with my guard down so lesson learned! Thanks again for helping me so swiftly.

If you've given away your email password to a phishing exploit asking you to update, authenticate, verify or upgrade your mailbox then yes your mailbox has been compromised. TalkTalk never ever ask you to enter your email password anywhere but the official TalkTalk Mail sign in page linked to from the TalkTalk website.
1. Scan your email devices to remove any possible password capturing virus, trojan or other malware that you may have downloaded when being diverted to an amateur website.
2. The Reset password now button in the help article Changing your email password will take you to password reset and recovery.
If you have set up password recovery options, in advance, that you recognise from the *****hints, then you can send your alternate email address a link or your mobile a 6-digit code to authorise a password reset. NB Hackers do change these so if you don't positively recognise the email or mobile or do but don't get the reset link or code fairly soon then you'll need help to get a new password set.
3. When you have got a new password then you'll need to use the Security option to sign out all unrecognised devices and then check via the Mail option the Rules to delete all Filter rules that the hackers may have set up or modified to spy on your mail messages.
Let me know if you need help with setting a new strong and unique password.
