MS Outlook 2019

Hi Folks,

 

I'm trying to set up my @talktalk.net email in MS Outlook 2019 and I keep getting an error - 

"Something went wrong and Outlook couldn't set up your account. Please try again. If the problem continues, contact your email administrator."

I've managed to set it up on 2 android email clients and Thunderbird in Windows, why not Outlook 2019?

 

Error is consistent on both IMAP and POP3. I've tried it on 2 laptops running Outlook 2019.

First, please ensure that you are using the correct settings for both IMAP and POP3. Here are the recommended settings for TalkTalk:

IMAP Settings:

  • Incoming Mail Server: imap.talktalk.net
  • Port: 993
  • Encryption: SSL/TLS
  • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.talktalk.net
  • Port: 587
  • Encryption: STARTTLS

POP3 Settings:

  • Incoming Mail Server: pop.talktalk.net
  • Port: 995
  • Encryption: SSL/TLS
  • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.talktalk.net
  • Port: 587
  • Encryption: STARTTLS

-Double-check that you are entering your full email address as the username and the correct password.

-Disable Antivirus/Firewall Temporarily: Sometimes, security software can interfere with the connection. Try temporarily disabling your antivirus or firewall to see if that resolves the issue.
 

Update Outlook: Ensure that your Outlook 2019 is fully updated. Sometimes, updates can fix bugs or compatibility issues.
 

Create a New Profile: If the problem persists, try creating a new Outlook profile:

  • Go to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles > Add.
  • Set up your email account in the new profile.

Check for Multiple Accounts: If you have multiple accounts set up in Outlook, ensure that there are no conflicts or issues with other accounts.
